Ingredients
- 11 cup Yellow Moong Dal (split yellow lentils)
- 23 cups Water
- 31/2 tsp Turmeric
- 41 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 52 Garlic cloves, minced (optional)
- 61 tbsp Oil or Vegan Butter
- 7Salt to taste
- 8Coriander leaves

Wash the dal thoroughly. Boil the dal in water with turmeric and salt until soft and mushy (about 15-20 minutes).

In a small pan, heat oil. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Add minced garlic (if using) and sauté until golden.

Pour this tadka (tempering) over the cooked dal.

Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice or roti.
